About Us
We are a group of FLASS students
who are committed to making a change in on-going wastefulness
among Orientation activities at EdU.

Our Program
Green-Welcoming Project was funded by the Learning Development Grant (LDG) 2019/20 of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (FLASS), The Education University of Hong Kong.
Our intention was to study the actual situation of wastefulness and waste management among the orientation period, also understood the students’ attitudes towards activities and proposing comprehensive green methods.

Our Aims
Friends of the Earth (2015) stated that nearly forty per cent of respondents had never done recycling for the materials used during orientation activities, which underlies the underperformance in sustainable awareness among student bodies.
The situation of non-reusable materials used in orientation activities not only produce an amount of unnecessary wastage, yet also aggravate the burden of the landfill in Hong Kong.
Furthermore, there is no comprehensive research on the waste in Welcoming day in university at present and the only detailed guidebook for the green event we found on the government website is only for the large-scale event which is inappropriate for university students to conduct.
